How to export a Rekordbox playlist as Text and M3U8
Energy Set Builder expects two exports from the same Rekordbox playlist: one Text export and one M3U8 export. The goal is simple: the Text file preserves playlist details, and the M3U8 file preserves the playlist pathing needed for a clean reimport workflow.
1. Open the exact playlist you want to process.Use one working playlist, not two different crates or collection views. Both exported files should describe the same source playlist.
2. Export the playlist as Text.In Rekordbox, right click the playlist and choose the Text export option. Save it somewhere easy to find.
3. Export the same playlist again as M3U8.Right click the same playlist again, choose the playlist export option, and save it in M3U8 format.
4. Upload both files to Energy Set Builder.Use the TXT upload area for the Text export and the M3U8 upload area for the playlist export. If one file comes from a different playlist, the output will not reflect the set you meant to build.
Common mistakes
- Exporting Text from one playlist and M3U8 from another.
- Renaming files in a way that makes them hard to identify later.
- Uploading only one of the two required files.
- Trying to use a collection-wide export when you only want one focused set-prep playlist.

Once both files are exported, upload them into Energy Set Builder, choose Split or Extract mode, set your constraints, then download the generated playlists and import them back into Rekordbox.
